Sunday September 10, 2006:
A BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK has been visiting feeders along Honeysuckle Terrace
in Nanaimo.
A flock of AMERICAN PIPITS were seen along Lodgepole Avenue in Parksville.
The Sunday Bird Walk went to Columbia Beach in French Creek. Seventeen
birders found the following thirty-one species

Thursday September 07:
A PEREGRINE FALCON, LEAST and WESTERN SANDPIPERS and three SEMI-PALMATED
PLOVERS were seen at the Nanaimo River Estuary, Holden Creek side, in
Nanaimo.
A HERMIT THRUSH and a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH were spotted at the Chase River
Estuary in south Nanaimo.
Two FOX SPARROWS and a WINTER WREN were sighted at Neck Point Park in
Nanaimo.

Wednesday September 06:
A STELLER'S JAY was seen in a garden along Howard Avenue in Nanaimo.
RED-NECKED and HORNED GREBES, BONAPART'S GULLS and a first winter FRANKLIN'S
GULL were seen at Qualicum Beach.
Four GREATER YELLOWLEGS, one WESTERN SANDPIPER, four LEAST SANDPIPERS, three
SPOTTED SANDPIPERS and 20 BLACK TURNSTONES were seen at Nile Creek.
Two LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, STELLER'S JAYS and two GREATED YELLOWLEGS were seen
at the Englishman River Estuary, Plummer Road side, in Parksville.

Monday September 04:
Over 200 WESTERN SANDPIPERS, 200 LEAST SANDPIPERS, one SEMI-PALMATED
SANDPIPER, three PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, three SEMI-PALMINATED PLOVERS, one
BAIRD'S SANDPIPER and one PEREGRINE FALCON at the Nanaimo River Estuary
Holden Creek side, in Nanaimo.

Sunday September 03:
Two RING-BILLED GULLS and several CALIFORNIA GULLS were seen off shore at
the Air Park in Courtney.
150 RED-NECKED GREBES and four COMMON LOONS were seen at Deep Bay looking
toward Denman Island and the Lighthouse.
A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was spotted near hole #2 at the Morningstar
Golf Course in French Creek.

Saturday September 02:
A STELLER'S JAY was spotted on a trail in the Avonlea Subdivision near the
junction of highway 19 and Jingle Pot Road (north) in Nanaimo.
Five RED-TAILED HAWKS were seen over the Lantzville foothills in upper
Lantzville.
A GREAT BLUE HERON and STELLER'S JAYS were seen at Galloway march in
Lantzville.
Two OSPREY were spotted at Westwood Lake in Nanaimo.
A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was spotted near hole #10 at the Morningstar
Golf Course in French Creek.

Friday September 01:
A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen being mobbed by a pair of COMMON RAVENS
at Fairwinds in Nanoose Bay.
An OSPREY was seen at Neck Point Park in Nanaimo.
