Subject: [Tweeters] Ridgefield RUFF

On Tuesday morning the Ridgefield Refuge biologist,Joe Engler
emailed me that he had found a juvenile male RUFF on the north end of
Rest Lake on the River "S" Unit of the refuge. I wasn't able to make
it out until after work but after searching the north end of Rest Lake
from the Observation Blind I drove around to the south side of the
lake and scanned the mudflats. I had worked my way to the east end of
the road without any luck and was about ready to leave when I looked
back to the west end of the mudflats and spotted the bird standing out
in the open. Apparently it had flown in while I was checking the
flocks of Pectoral and Baird's Sandpipers.
To my knowledge this is only the second record of a Ruff for Clark
County.
