Hello Tweeters,
In reply to recent comments on the above topic, there are a
couple of references worthy of review by anyone considering selecting and
purchasing binoculars.
One consists of a pair of ?Tools of the Trade? articles by Derek
Lovitch in the May/June and July/August ?06 issues of Birding (magazine of
the American Birding Association). These are entitled ?Mid-price
Binoculars? and review seven models including Alpen Apex, Bushnell Legend,
Leupold Olympics, Leupold Pinnacles, Nikon Monarchs, Pentax DC HR II and
Swift Ultra-lites.
The second reference is in the current BirdWatcher?s Digest
(Sept./Oct. ?06) by Michael and Diane Porter entitled ?10 Myths about
Birding Optics?. Nine of the ten relate primarily to binoculars. The tenth
one is on straight-through versus angled spotting scopes.
Good luck in selecting what turns out to
be best for you.
