Sunday September 17, 2006:
A BARRED OWL was heard calling "who cooks for you" in the Corfield Road area
of Parksville.
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS are coming to feeders at the top end of Drew Road in
Parksville.
DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, PELAGIC CORMORANTS, MALLARDS, CALIFORNIA GULLS,
GLAUCOUS WINGED GULLS, BELTED KINGFISHER, NORTHERN FLICKER, NORTHWESTERN
CROW, COMMON RAVEN, CHESTNUT BACKED CHICKADEE, AMERICAN ROBIN, SPOTTED
TOWHEE, SONG SPARROW, BLACK-THROATED GREY WARBLER, TOWNSENDS WARBLER,
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS, DARK-EYED JUNCOS, GREAT BLUE
HERONS, STELLER'S JAY and BAND-TAILED PIGEONS were seen at Neck Point Park.

Saturday September 16:
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS were seen at feeders along Borden Drive in Pleasent
Valley in Nanaimo.
A GREAT HORNED OWL was seen in the Pleasant Valley area of Nanaimo.
PURPLE FINCH were seen and photographed in Lantzville.
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS were seen along Garnett Road off Rutherford Road in
Nanaimo.

Friday September 15:
DARK-EYED JUNCOS and GOLD-CROWNED SPARROWS are visiting feeders along Drew
Road in Parksville.

Thursday September 14:
A BLUE GROUSE was seen at the side of the road along Station Road in
Errington.
Eleven SANDHILL CRANES were seen and photographed above Cowland Road in
Bowser.
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS were seen visiting feeders in the 4100 block of Gulfview
Drive in Nanaimo.
A BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was seen visiting feeders in the 1200 block of
Thunderbird Drive near the Nanaimo General Hospital.

Wednesday September 13:
A WESTERN TANAGER was seen along Drew Road in Parksville.
An ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD was seen in the 200 block of Dawkins Lane in Nanaimo.
An AMERICAN WIGEON was seen at Buttertubs Marsh in Nanaimo.

Tuesday September 12:
TOWNSEND'S WARBLER, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, RED-EYED VIREO, PILEATED
WOODPECKER, BELTED KINGFISHERS, HOUSE FINCH, CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES,
COMMON MERGANGERS and STELLAR'S JAYS were seen in McGregor Marsh in Nanaimo.

Monday September 11:
A BARRED OWL was seen and heard calling near Winter Harbour in south
Nanaimo.
A RED-TAILED HAWK was seen and photographed in the 7400 block of Aulds Road
in Lantzville.
A MUTE SWAN was seen on the Fairwinds Golf Course in Nanoose Bay.
A COMMON LOON, HORNED GREBES, GREAT BLUE HERON, MALLARDS, NORTHERN PINTAILS,
SURF SCOTERS, WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, BLACK SCOTERS, GLAUCOUS WINGED GULLS,
BELTED KINGFISHER and NORTHWESTERN CROWS were seen at Nanoose Bay behind the
Church Camp.

Sunday September 10:
A HEERMAN'S GULL, MEW GULLS and RING-BILLED GULLS were seen along the gravel
bar in front of the Pebble Beach townhouses at Parksville.
Two RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were seen off shore at Winter Harbour in south
Nanaimo.
Two DARK-EYED JUNCOS were seen in the Chartwell Garden in Qualicum Beach.
A STELLAR'S JAY was seen eating the bugs in an apple tree along Dover Road
in Nanaimo.
A MUTE SWAN was seen about 3/4 of a mile off the Big Qualicum Estuary.

Wednesday September 07:
Two STELLAR'S JAYS, three NORTHERN FLICKERS, CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES,
DOWNY and PILEATED WOODPECKERS were seen coming to feeders along Pheasant
Terrace in the Diver Lake area of Nanaimo.
