Hello Tweeters Again,

The attached Gene Gudger photo from the east side of the Union
Bay Natural Area (Fill) brought half a dozen responses:

There was one from Keith Brady suggesting a Pintail, and another
from Phil Mattocks in Ellensburg suggesting ?a young Muscovy or a
Muscovy/Mallard something?.

The other four favored a Green-winged Teal. John Tubbs in
Snoqualmie suggested ?either a drake that hasn?t gotten fall/winter plumage
yet, or a dark female?. John also stated the ?dark cap on the head and dark
eye line, plus the piece of green speculum bordered by buff? also fit the
Green-winged. M. M. Swain in San Antonio also voted for a ?dark-headed
Green-winged Teal? and referred to the speculum pattern in the Teal shown
in: HYPERLINK

L.jpg. Mary Frances Mathis in Kirkland also referred to the ?green speculum
with a buffy-gold bar and also a buffy streak on the rear?. And, finally,
Matt Dufort said the ?leg and bill color? rule out a Black Duck, as do the
lack of contrast between the head and the rest of the body.

What a delightful bunch of responses. Many thanks to all.
