This morning I sent a message re. the questioned diagnosis of the
Montlake probable Green-winged Teal. I tried to include the web site of the
Cornell photo, but neglected to underline the blank spaces. Here is M. M.
Swan's original reference which should render the Cornell picture available
for comparison to Gudger's photograph.

I think Gene Gudger's duck photo shows a rather dark-headed Green-winged
Teal. See the speculum pattern (albeit green instead of blue) in William
Newton's photo at:
