BLACKPOLL WARBLER continues Saturday, 23 September, 2006. Seen at southernmost corner on loop route, River "S" Unit of Ridgefield NWR. The road is in trees for a considerable distance before and after this point. The road parallels canal which is to the right and at this point the road turns from a southerly to easterly in direction. There is a pullout just before the corner and on the corner.
This warbler was the only warbler present about 3-4 p.m., so it was not necessary to pick it out from a flock. It primarily fed working in the moss on the branches (gleaning-?), but was seen to make a 'sallie' out to catch an insect in midair. There was a flock of Black-capped Chickadees in the immediate area. (We encountered several Chickadee flocks that afternoon.)
--- Good Luck ---
