Yesterday, I made a trip up to Bellingham to visit a birding friend (Larry Moss) and we decided to bird the Blaine area. We had heard there were a few flocks of Black-bellied Plovers in the area and that a Golden-Plover was amongst them. First of all we birded Blaine Marine Park and did find a large group of Black-bellied Plovers, but the tide was low and the birds were way out. We then decided to head to Semiahmoo Spit, where we spent the early afternoon birding. On the way back to Bellingham we stopped briefly in the Lummi Flats and checked out a group of shorebirds near the dike.

On the way up and back from Bellingham I stopped by Brackett's Landing Park in Edmonds, to see if I locate some jaegers that had been reported from there recently. Highlights of my trip were:

AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER - one individual amongst the Black-bellied Plovers along Semiahmoo Spit

WESTERN MEADOWLARK - on Semiahmoo Spit

RED KNOT - 6 birds on Semiahmoo Spit amongst the Plovers.

MARBLED GODWIT - 1 individual in with the Plovers on Semiahmoo Spit

PECTORAL SANDPIPER - 3 birds in the Lummi Flats

PARASITIC JAEGER - 3 birds at Brackett's Landing
