Tweets,
Monday Dave Annonen and I birded Ocean Shores. Not much to report, but the
weather was superb! Zero shorebirds at Bill's Spit at high tide, none in the
salicornia marsh/Oyhut Game Range between the sewage treatment plant access
and Tonquin St access. Two female harriers passed low through Oyhut GR
along the water's edge about 15 seconds apart, perhaps migrating together??.
At least one LAPLAND LONGSPUR was flitting about with the scores of pipits
(heard only). Out by Damon Point we heard two reports of a dark MERLIN, and
saw an apparent female, quite brown with a conspicuous pale terminal tail
band, at the nearby cement water tank, and a PEREGRINE at the same location.
50+ Steller's Jays moved south and westward through Grand Mound, including
two groups of ~20 each. The previously reported WHITE-T KITE was present at
the west end of Brady Loop west and south of Satsop. The Golden-cr Sparrows
were returned in force in my back yard. 76 species for a pretty slow day.
Good birding!
