Thanks to all for your info on flying and binocs. FYI I believe that if you should pack any optics in your checked luggage that the airlines will not be responsible for any damage to it. For anyone packing optics in their checked luggage, better check this out with your carrier. Broken/damaged optics are not the way to start a trip.
