Having got my latest issue of "Washington Birder" today, and reading the article on the Blue Grouse split, I thought I'd repeat what I already said a while back about my sighting of a male Dusky Grouse on a hill near Winthrop (=Methow Valley). Since the article wants to know about sightings, I'll send this along.

My sighting was on May 11, 1991. I accidentally flushed it on an overgrown hillside, and I was not on any trail. The solid black tail was as is shown in the photo in the article. But I did not notice any colored neck or eye patches. It just appeared generally dark. I was above it on the hill.

Well, this boring tidbit was just for the record.
