There's a day roosting barn owl out in the open in my neighbor's yard this
morning. You may see it by going into my backyard at 11708 Evanston Avenue
North, north of the Greenwood neighborhood in north Seattle. Enter the gate
past the old VW bus and blue tarp. Look about halfway up the Douglas-fir at
the north-south property line north of my yard, next to the tree trunk. I
don't know how much longer it will stay put. Every half hour or so a mob of
crows, Steller's jays, and, yes, three flickers, descends on the tree to
harass the owl.
