Took my students out to Bob Heirman Park today, along the river. While
sitting in the sunny sand writing Haiku poetry, an Osprey appeared, hovered
for a couple minutes almost over our heads then dove down, and after a
couple of tries, snatched a modest sized fish right in front of us. To my
surprise, as it was pumping to regain altitude the fish got loose and hit
the water. The Osprey gave a call that we all were sure was some kind of
swear word. The current carried it down to our location, floating sideways
on the surface, and it again dove in front of us, snatched up the fish and
this time carried it off overland. Got some nice Haiku from that experience
today.
