Subject: [Tweeters] Injured CB Chickadee / Options on where to take birds

A little follow up on my request for a place to take an injured Chickadee .
. .

I took the bird to PAWS in Lynnwood. Excellent recommendation I'm sure, but
it was pretty far for me to drive at a moment's notice. I could have been a
nightmare late on a Friday afternoon traffic-wise, but I got lucky with
that.

I also got a couple of other recommendations that would be closer to many of
us around town if we find ourselves in the same position in the future.

Sarvey Wildlife Center in Arlington has drop-off locations around town.

There is lots of good information on both of these websites regarding caring
for orphaned or injured wildlife. I encourage you to add these sites to
your favorites and look them over in advance so you're ready to react well
if you encounter a crippled critter later on. I'm frankly not too confident
that the chickadee can be treated as splinting small bones like that is
inherently problematic, but he'll at least be treated humanely in getting
closure on the situation instead of starving or meeting up with some other
uncomfortable demise.

ANYWAY . . . Alpine Animal Hospital in Issaquah (mentioned by a couple
folks) no longer acts as a drop-off location, but there are 4 other drop-off
points for Sarvey.

Aerowood Animal Hospital
2975-156th Ave SE
Bellevue, WA 98007
425-746-6557

Renton Veterinary Hospital
128 Rainier Ave S.
Renton, WA 98056
425-255-8676

Inglemoore Animal Hospital
16900-68th Ave NE
Kenmore, WA 98028
425-488-2000

The woman I spoke with at Sarvey also mentioned Vashon Island / WARN, but I
don't have further info on that location.
