I just returned from a photography trip with my school to Wallowa Lake in NE
Oregon. We had amazing weather and a great time. I wanted to post a few
more details on the geese that Gina Sheridan briefly mentioned. On
Thursday, April 5, I was about ready to leave on the photo trip when I
spotted white geese feeding by the sewer ponds at school. I ran out with my
camera and binoculars, and started looking through them. There were a total
of 13, consisting of 4 Ross's Geese (2 ad, 2 juv) and 9 (!) Ross's Geese.
Wow! I got some photos of the whole flock which I'll post soon to
www.flickr.com/photos/nightjar. Seeing this many Ross's Geese was totally
unexpected, and even seeing more than 1 Snow Goose in this county is quite
remarkable. I'll check and see if they're stilll around tomorrow.

Good birding!
