Hi Tweeters,

Being a nurturing parent, I thought that it would be a nice change of pace if my kids argued for awhile in the car instead of just at home. So we went in quest of the Barnacle Geese off of Wenzel Slough Rd. I drove down Key Rd. to Wenzel Slough and quickly came across a large flock of Canada Geese, but no Barnacles. We drove a bit farther, and after passing a roughly 90 degree curve and just before a small bridge, we found a second, much smaller flock of Canada Geese with the two Barnacle Geese in their midst. This was about 4:20 in the afternoon, with a persistent rain coming down.

We didn't see any other species in the area that hadn't been reported in other recent posts, except for a great look at an Osprey flying across of Vance Creek Rd., just beyond the park, with a large fish flopping in its talons.

Good birding,
