I did a quick trip around Marymoor this morning - Wednesday - the correct
day for the weekly Marymoor walks that Michael Hobbs had the temerity to
move to Thursday's when I'm usually busy. ;)



It was a beautiful day to be out. No major highlights but very birdy. The
OSPREY flew down the slough just after I arrived. The BALD EAGLE was
watching the nest out by the boardwalk and there were several RED-TAILED
HAWKS floating around in the sky. Waterfowl numbers continue to decline but
there were numerous BUFFLEHEAD, 3 COMMON MERGANSERS (all males), a
RING-NECKED DUCK, MALLARDS and CANADA GOOSE. YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were in
very good numbers - not quite scads but close - many of them were singing.
COMMON YELLOWTHROAT are now common in the usual spots, also singing. I also
found only one ORANGE CROWNED WARBLER. There are lots of GOLDEN-CROWNED
SPARROWS around as well as good number of WHITE-CROWNED, SAVANNAH, two
LINCOLNS and DARK-EYED JUNCOS. I also saw several FOX SPARROWS including one
sitting up in a tree singing away. Finally , there were two AMERICAN PIPIT
near the compost heaps.



Total species for my quick morning jaunt: 45.
