Hi Tweeters,

I had to go look for the Oriole tonight since the now
famous Arctic Loon will have to return some day for me
to see it...real life sometimes just makes those
chases impossible. But the Hooded Oriole, that I
could do! Close to work and some daylight.

It took me nearly 1hr and 45 minutes to finally see
the Oriole but it was so worth it! Last year I never
did get a good look at the oriole and I can tell you I
spent more time than that looking. I finally saw it
tonight across the street from Cathie Connolly's
house, perched on the house at 2564 Constance St. A
nice long, good enough look, then it flew to some
trees behind the house and I could only get partial
views there before it flew off.

Could the Bullock's Orioles be too far behind? I have
had their call in my brain all night since seeing the
Hooded.

See the post this morning from Cathie Connolly for the
address and pictures! I would recommend using
Mapquest to find this spot from major highways.
Magnolia is certainly off the beaten path.

Other fun birds included an immature Red-tailed Hawk
being harrassed by crows, a calling Red-breasted
Nuthatch, and many Anna's Hummningbirds. One adult
and one immature Bald Eagle in the area too. A female
House Sparrow got into a pretty good tussle with a
male in the street (Perkin's Lane) but some cars broke
up the fight and there wasn't a rematch, it looked
like she was winning that one.
