New spring migrants in the yard today. The first White-crowned Sparrow (they winter here, but town birds are migrants coming through) and 3 Varied Thrushes. The thrushes are fun to watch tearing up the garden litter looking for goodies. Also a Yellow-rumped Warbler.

We still have about 6000 Sandhill Cranes in the area, but this is probably the last weekend we can expect as many as a thousand. Small goose (lesser and taverners) numbers are still in the 50000 range, plus the white geese that I reported earlier at the Para Ponds.
