It's probably useful to designate our Fox Sparrows, since
the "Slate-colored" Fox Sparrow is a summer resident to
some parts of Washington and may even breed in some backyards
east of the Cascade crest....

We are presumably talking about "Sooty" Fox Sparrows which
winter along the west side of Cascadia. I have records of
these Fox Sparrows into early-May, though they thin out
significantly by mid-April.

As for Varied Thrush, it breeds at Ft Columbia in Pacific
County. With this species, it's all about appropriate habitat.
urban/suburban parks and and well maintained backyard provide
sufficient winter foraging habitat, but they really need
relatively undisturbed understory in large, mixed-age/species
forests for breeding.
