Took advantage of a wonderful Sunday morning to check out the area around
Toppenish NWR. Nothing too spectacular to report, but the amount of
Black-necked Stilts was impressive. I had 30 stilts in two spots along Old
Goldendale Rd. Also at the first spot (pond at corner of Pumphouse and Old
Goldendale) had a small flock of other shorebirds that included 7 Dunlin in
alternate plumage and 6 Western Sandpiper.

On Lateral C I had a lone Turkey Vulture flying overhead and a Greater
Yellowlegs, 1 of three for the morning. Many Cinnamon Teal paired up
everywhere and stops at the HQ and Toppenish creek produced many
Yellow-rumps singing and displaying all of their spring finery.

A great morning of birding in the spring sunshine.
