I guess it just seemed like the Mongol Horde walking Nisqually this
morning...It was only 17 of us under cool, sunny skies. Maybe a bit too cool because
it was pretty quiet!

Highlights included 3 male CINNAMON TEAL behind the twin barns and great
scope looks at 3 GREAT HORNED OWLS inside the boardwalk about 100 yards from
where the trail from the twin barns joins the Nisqually River trail. The birds
were back toward the visitor center.

We saw a good number of waterfowl species, just not any great numbers of any
one species. We saw lots of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT,
but no other warblers. We did have 3 BROWN CREEPERS on the same tree and a
single female DOWNEY WOODPECKER.

Even the raptor numbers was down with only a couple of NORTHERN HARRIERS and
RED-TAILED HAWKS to go with 3 BALD EAGLES. There were lots of CACKLING
GEESE that the BALD EAGLES kept up in the air most of the time. No SNOWS or
GREATER WHITE-FRONTS to be seen.

All told we had 47 species with nothing new for the year, so we remain at 99
species for the year.

The only mammal seen was a COYOTE.
