Tweeeters,

Last week we spent some time at the legendary High Island on the upper
Texas coast. The Audubon preserve there has a small grandstand that
faces a clear area in front of a water drip. The spectators were
cheering on a female Hooded Warbler that had a bizarre fascination with
a cottontail rabbit that was munching away in the clearing. The crowd
went wild when the bird actually landed (twice) on the gentle
Leporidae. If only Rob Sandelin could been there.

The most difficult of the target Warblers was also the cutest. We had
two Swainson's Warblers right at our feet acting like little wind up
toys, shuffling their tiny feet, cruising through the leaf litter in a
random direction, shivering all the way.

Missed the Whooping Cranes by one day and put forth a lot of effort to
see one each of Golden-cheeked Warbler and Black-capped Vireo.
