Hello!
Not a rare bird sighting, but a wonderful bird moment: I was walking up the hill of Phinney Ridge, in Seattle, around 6:30 pm en route to a friend's house, when I saw a commotion of crows up ahead. I immediately looked ahead of the mob to see what raptor they might be chasing and just in time, because the bird being run out of town was swooping downhill and I actually saw it sort of first at eye level and then below me (not the way I usually see a raptor, and not the way I'd want to see one if I were a small creature). It was an American Kestrel. I'm sure the look in its eye was just its usual beady-eyed glare but being human I couldn't help but see its expression as one of frantic exasperation!
