Much to my delight there was a full breeding plumage COMMON LOON at the
ferry terminal tonite. This was around 6:40 pm. I watched it for only a
few minutes as it dived and didn't resurface where I could see it. Rats!

Also, the CASPIAN TERNS have returned. Three or so were calling as they
flew towards wherever it is they hang out in the shipyard. More to come,
I'm sure. They sure are raucous sounding.

Wednesday AM near the FETE I heard an eagle call and shortly thereafter saw
two BALD EAGLES, talons locked, spinning, falling, then lost sight of 'em
behind a building.

VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS have once again returned to the area above the Sinking
Ship Garage in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle. It's pretty cool to look
out our 15th-floor office windows and see swallows swooping around.

Good birding,
Mary
