Tweeters: All of these reports of Townsend's Solitaires brought back a
startling memory: picture a birder, driving alone north through Arizona to the
area known as Four Corners in September, looking for migrants. On a country
road there were literally hundreds of Rufous Hummingbirds on telephone wires,
and as I started up the winding access road into the N.P. through my open car
window I heard the most beautiful song: it was loud clear warbling.. . and
I've never heard it again! but I stopped on the curve, found the singer with
my binocs..and wasn't arrested. Here, In WA, we seem to have a lot. . . we
should be so lucky! Murray
