I'll weigh in on this though I'm no expert on quail. The general word on Bobwhite has been that they simply don't persist in our western Washington climate and seeing (or hearing them) in virtually any locality within western Washington is dependant upon regular releases by bird dog trainers and hunters, something that has been a common practice over the years. I heard and saw Bobwhite quite regularly at Bald Hill in Thurston County. I suspect these birds came from releases somewhere in the vicinity.

We "lost" our bobwhites some years ago . . . does anyone know why they just never show up again? We thought perhaps a cat in the neighborhood, but every year? M.
