I headed for the Goodrich Rd. pond today in search of the Solitary Sandpipers that have been reported there in the past few days by Dave Hayden and others. Not to disappoint, I found two Solitary Sandpipers with the first being in the small puddle on the left-hand side of the road just after the slough bridge. The second was further down Goodrich Rd. just before the trail parking area. It was in a small puddle just about 20 feet off the road which allowed an awesome look.

As I pulled up to the trail parking lot, I viewed what is left of the Goodrich Rd. pond (end of the road). It is primarily three separate puddles now. I first noticed a few Black-bellied Plovers present and some smaller peeps. As I watching the Black-bellied Plovers, a very crisp and striking Pacific Golden-Plover appeared out of the grass. The plovers took flight once allowing me a good look at its underwings which showed a plain gray appearance. The black on the under-belly extended up onto the rump with a little white showing as well. Hopefully, it will stick around for others to see it.

A couple Greater Yellowlegs were present on the pond and the peeps consisted primarily of Western Sandpipers. I couldn't pull out any Leasts with the distance and the lighting. Also, five species of swallows were busy flying all around the pond.
