Well, I hit the pond after work hoping to cash in on the luck that Paul
Hicks had earlier today relocating the Pacific Golden Plover, but nope.
I scanned the pond for nearly a half hour hoping in was hiding and would
come out, but that was not the case. The only birds I had, other than
swallows, were, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Killdeer and 12 Dunlin on a fly
by. So, I went to the bridge and checked the slough where I had several
Wood Ducks, several Ring-necked Ducks, and 1 Bufflehead. The pond on the
left yielded 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 2 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Lesser
Yellowlegs, and several American Wigeons. The second Solitary Sandpiper
was still in a small wet area just past an old building on the left,
just before the parking lot. After checking the fields and slough, I
went back to the pond one last time and gave it a quick scan just in
case, and came across 1 WHIMBREL. Hopefully the birds will return tomorrow.
