Seattle Audubon Society --- Master Birder Program 2007

The Seattle Audubon Society will inaugurate a new
session of the Master Birder program in September
2007 This will be the eighth time that this
series of enriching and challenging classes is
offered, giving intermediate birders the
opportunity to improve their birding skills and
raise their ecological awareness.

The program runs through the Fall of 2007 and
Spring of 2008. Classes meet on Mondays and
Wednesdays, and last from 7:00 until 9:30 p.m.
The course is taught by Dr. Dennis Paulson,
Director Emeritus of the University of Puget
Sound's Slater Museum, and a wide range of
ornithological and environmental specialists.
Homework and a number of field trips are planned.

The SAS Master Birder course is an
education-for-service program. Rather than
monetary tuition, participants will provide a
minimum of 100 hours service to Seattle Audubon's
many educational, scientific, conservation and
environmental programs. At least ten volunteer
hours should be completed between the start of
the program and the beginning of the second term
of the program (January , 2008). Participants in
previous Master Birder programs currently fill
many SAS leadership positions, enhance every area
of our diverse agenda, and continue to
enthusiastically initiate new and exciting
endeavors.

This is a selective program designed for adults,
with a limited number of spots available.
Applicants should be intermediate birders with a
background in classes and/or in field study.
Acceptance into the program is based on your
completed application, results of a bird
identification slide quiz, and screening by the
Master Birder Committee.

If selected for the program, you are expected to:

? Attend every class meeting and field trip
? Participate in each class and perform satisfactorily on tests and
assignments
? Repay Seattle Audubon through substantial volunteer service-the
minimum expectation is 100 hours over three years (September 2007
through September 2010)
? Maintain membership in SAS

Your signature on the application indicates that
you understand these expectations and agree to
comply with them if selected for the program.

The application is available at
http://www.seattleaudubon.org
under the 'Education' tab.

If you have any questions, check the above
website or feel free to contact me or MaryFrances

Attn: Master Birder Committee. The application
deadline is Friday, June 1st, 2007. Slide
quizzes will be given six times:

10-11am or 11-12noon; Wednesday June 6 7-8pm or
8-9pm. Quizzes will be administered at the
