Observations from the past few days on the North Olympic Peninsula
Short-eared owl (1 Sequim)
Sandhill crane (1 Sequim)
Townsend solitaire (Green Point and Port Angeles)
White-fronted goose (Cape Flattery, passing in front of a waxing moon)
Snow Goose (two feeding on the Hoko River meadows)
Merlin (Waatch Flats)
Snipe (clear cuts on Bohokus Peak)
It is interesting to note, last October I also has both short-eared owl and
snipe above 5,000 feet on Hurricane Ridge. The snipe was walking about my
campsite in a dense stand of subalpine fir.
