Briefly,
If some in Fish and Game Departments could set a season on pileateds to sell more hunting licenses they would.
What about flicker 'depredation' of siding on homes?.. they could make a few extra bucks with a flicker season..
Turkeys are the new starling... The population is exploding around here and they are encroaching on lower elevation pristine mountain habitats in the Selkirks' also, even in heavy snow areas near Priest Lake, ID and they are probably here to stay.

It is ever wise to introduce or help spread a non native species? We apparently have not learned from past mistakes.
Does anyone know if they are they potential bird flu vectors, especially since people feed them and invite them into their yards?
I appreciate all the information and discussion on this list!
