Greetings All,

A pleasant weekend indeed, despite the dire warnings of the weatherpersons! The Hundred Acre Woods (NE Lakewood, Pierce County) is in full "migration" swing with tons of Yellow Rumps and Yellowthroats to liven up the music of the ubiquitious Red Winged Blackbirds. All of the Swallows are out in force, and a few loudly buzzing Savannah Sparrows. The Scrub Jays are out in good numbers and the resident Red-Tailed Hawks are on guard duty. One interloper that got the attention of a local Crow was a Sharp Shinned Hawk, circling over the pond area. In flight, the size difference was remarkable, and aided in the ID of the accipiter. The best treat of the day was not one, but two pairs of nest building Pied Billed Grebes. 49 species for the day.
