On Sunday in my writeup 'around the loop' I reported photographing a Dusky
Grouse alongside the road along the Elwha river. It had to be a Sooty
Grouse, of course, in that area. I'm surprised no one questioned it.
However, yesterday I photographed another Sooty in northeast Skamania county
and the difference in appearance, mostly color, is worth noting. Also the
bird on the Elwaha doesn't have a noticable tail band and the Skamania bird
does.
Took some other photos yesterday; a couple warblers, a ground squirrel, a
frog and some dragonflies which I have now displayed with the Latin name.
Looking at the photo, the English name will be under the Latin.
