After 20 months of next to no hummingbird activity in my yard, i
finally had three (!) hummers fighting over the feeder this morning.
One of them was a humnmer I saw yesterday evening that puzzled me. It
appeared to be fairly small and I thought that the wing projected
beyond the tip of the tail. This morning, I was able to view it again
alongside two immature Rufous Hummingbirds and it was, indeed, an
immature Calliope Hummingbird - another new yard bird, county bird,
and state bird. It eluded my camera as did the Rufous Hummingbirds.
