Subject: [Tweeters] FW: information re birding places on Whidbey Island

Hi Tweeters,

I received this request today from a birder who will be visiting our area
soon. Perhaps some of you could address her birding needs since none of
these birds are easily found on Whidbey Island. I have instructed her to get
on the Tweeters list.

Thanks!

Dave Parent

Hello David,

We will be travelling through your area this summer (mid August through late
September). What places/areas would you recommend for the best birding at
this time of year?

We are particularly interested in several species as shown below but love
looking at all birds.

Black-backed Woodpecker

Three-toed Woodpecker

Pine Grosbeak

White-winged Crossbill

Blue Grouse

Rough Grouse

Black Swift

I realize that some if not all of these birds may not be in your area but
any info you can provide would be most welcome.

Our local Audubon and many others in the surrounding counties have "Yahoo
groups" on the internet where we report our local sightings etc. If you
have something similar, could you provide the internet link? Is the Rare
Bird Alert hotline still used in your area?

Cheers
