This weekend I traveled up to Bellingham to bird areas of Whatcom County with a friend, Larry Moss. We stopped at various points in the county including Blaine, Semiahmoo, Terrell Lake, and Whatcom Falls Park. The weather was great and the birding overall was not too bad. A couple of great birds seen were AMERICAN DIPPER at Whatcom Falls Park and a RED-EYED VIREO along Raymond Road near Whatcom Falls Park. I headed back to Ballard this morning a made a couple of stops in Skagit and Snohomish Counties along the way. The highlight being a stop at the Stanwood Sewage Ponds. The wetland area at the entrance to the ponds held several shorebirds including two SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS. It was nice to see a WESTERN SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, and SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER together in a scope view all at one time. Additional sightings included:

WOOD DUCK - at Terrell Lake, and Whatcom Falls Park

HARLEQUIN DUCK - Semiahmoo

AMERICAN KESTREL - south side of Drayton Harbor, Blaine

SEMIPALMATED PLOWER - several at Blaine Marine Park

LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER - Stanwood Sewage Ponds

SPOTTED SANDPIPER - Stanwood Sewage Ponds, and Blaine Marine Park

SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER - Two at Stanwood Sewage Ponds

VAUX'S SWIFT - Whatcom Falls Park

OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER - Whatcom Falls Park, and Semiahmoo

AMERICAN DIPPER - Whatcom Falls Park

RED-EYED VIREO - near Whatcom Falls Park

ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER - Terrell Lake and Semiahmoo

SWAINSON'S THRUSH AND WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE were still calling at Terrell Lake

Cheers and Good Birding;
