Howdy Tweets, I'd appreciate any leads folks may have regarding congregations of band-tailed pigeons at mineral sites - e.g., near mineralized springs, abandoned artesian salt wells, along bluffs with mineralized water seeping from it, exposed mineral deposits, regular concentrations of pigeons found along saltwater bays and estuaries, or any other seemingly regular natural or artificial mineral sources (e.g. long-term livestock mineral licks, mineralized wastewater from pulp mills). We're gearing up to survey known sites in the King County area and would appreciate any leads regarding potential sites folks may know of, or suspect, that pigeons are congregating at to utilize a mineral source of some sort. I'm particularly interested in any urban/suburban sites that folks may be familiar with. Feel free to email me off the list if you have any thoughts/questions regarding this important habitat feature utilized by bt pigeons. I appreciate any leads or specifics that folks have, it's a big (huge) help! Thanks much!
