Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 9. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

Mixed migratory flocks are now being reported from many areas. Shorebird
movements are again increasing with many SOLITARY SANDPIPERS and
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS being report. Unfortunately many traditional shorebird
sites are unavailable because of high water or by being dry.

On August 2 a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was on the North Spit of Coos Bay. Large
numbers of BROWN PELICANS and HEERMANN?S GULLS were with many CALIFORNIA
GULLS moving northward along the Lane County coast August 5.

Three BANK SWALLOWS were on Sauvie Island August 3. Seven BREWER?S SPARROWS
were seen August 2 at four sites at Fern Ridge Reservoir. Others were
reported from Eugene and Creswell during the week. A juvenile IBIS is now
being seen at Fern Ridge Reservoir.

On August 6 two BLACK SWIFTS were flying about Tumalo Falls on Tumalo Creek
west of Bend.

That?s it for this week.
