Dear Tweeters,

The discussion of birds eating plastic pellets reminded me of an article I came across last month after finding a very real looking plastic salamander left on a dock. The article is about the growing use of plastic worms and salamanders for fishing. They are finding fish whose bellies are filled with plastic. If the fish are full of plastic, then any bird who eats the fish would also be affected.

The article is in the Maine Morning Sentinel. See the Mystery of the Missing Lure http://morningsentinel.mainetoday.com/news/local/4046443.html<http://morningsentinel.mainetoday.com/news/local/4046443.html>
