Hey tweets, we had a very politically correct collection of shorebirds
on the main pond this morning. Feeding all together in a little flock
were: a pectoral sandpiper, a long-billed dowitcher, a western, a
lesser yellowlegs, and a semipalmated sandpiper. Everybody just got
along. They all seemed quite calm so I'm guessing that the peregrine
falcon pair and the Cooper's hawk pair were elsewhere today. It was
great to see the pectoral sandpiper - I haven't seen one of these at
the Fill for years.

The yellowlegs gave me quite a thrill for a while. Its legs are not
very yellow. In some light, they appeared reddish-orange. So I really
studied this bird. Unfortunately, its bill is not excessively long, and
its back is not particularly plain, so I guess that lets out redshanks.
Someday the planets will align, no doubt the Tahoma Audubon Society
will be present, exerting their magnetism, and there will be redshanks
there. Until then, I will enjoy whatever visitors from afar the Fill
provides. - Connie, Seattle
