Tweeters,

Yesterday morning (8/11), I stopped by the Stanwood STP ponds checking for
shorebird activity. The marshy area at the main entrance gate was void of
nearly all shorebirds that have been there the last couple weeks. Only
present were 2 Greater Yellowlegs and 2 Killdeer. Upon scoping the main
pond inside the gate however, the 3 Red-necked Phalarope that were present a
couple days ago had grown to 10 birds now, scattered across the pond in 1's,
2's, and 3's.

This morning (8/12) around 11am, I stopped again to check what was present.
There were no shorebirds at all to be found at the marshy entrance area and
I did not check the main pond inside. However, I did relocate the EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVES I had first seen last week. Today there were 3 doves
present. They were seen about 50 yards south and slightly west of the
marshy area at the entrance to the STP, in the short pines and on the wire
crossing the road to the barn sized house there. I was able to pull right
along side of them in the car and observed them through the binoculars at
very close range for about 5 minutes before I continued on. Looks like
these birds may be findable at this location for those wishing to search.

Good luck,

Michael Willison, Stanwood, sendtomichael at hotmail.com
