Hello All,

We just returned home from a quick trip to Vancouver, WA area. On the way west we stopped Maryhill Museum of Art in Southern Klickitat Co.. For those of you that have never been there it is an oasis of big trees, water and brush high above the Columbia River that attracts large numbers of unusual birds and many art lovers. We observed the following species on 11 Aug. 2007 along SR14:

Williamsons Sapsucker-2 ad. males-first time we have ever seen this species here. Watched as one fed on ripe hanging plums.
Downy Woodpecker-1 ad. male
Dark-eyed Junco-1 pair with recently fledged pair of young-seemed to have nested on site.
Pygmy Nuthatch-1 ad. Bird-calling and foraging. Odd spot for this species. First time we have ever seen this species at this location.
Red-breasted Nuthatch-1 ad. bird.
Western Tanagers-7+ birds
Calliope Hummer-1 ad. male.
Yellow-breasted Chat-1 ad.
Orange-crowned Warbler-1 ad.
Wilson's Warbler-1 ad. male.
Black-headed Grosbeak-4 Birds
House Wren-3 birds
MacGillivrays Warbler-1 ad.female
Lesser Goldfinch-2 birds
Western wood-pewee-1 ad.
Warbling Vireo-1 ad.

We also stopped at Roosevelt park and observed.....

Wilson's Warbler-1
Yellow Warbler-2
Orange-crowned Warbler-1
Willow Flycatcher-1
Red-breasted Nuthatch-1
Least Sandpiper-3-at the local sewage ponds.
Solitary Sandpiper-1 ad. at pond west up the hill above the Aluminum plant near the John Day Dam.
