Hello All,

This last week I have been looking over riparian areas along the Touchet
River here in Walla Walla Co. and have consistently come across Solitary
Sandpipers along this rivers exposed shoreline. Friday I came across one at
Zuger Falls (on private property) which is a five foot drop that the whole
Touchet River makes just west of Wiatsburg. There is a stair stepped basalt
formation across the whole width of the river. In checking our records over
the last 25 years it is noticable that in the last 7 years this species has
been seen much more frequently in our area. It is often found at tiny wet
sites and river shorelines starting in early July on through early
September. I would like to learn if others have picked up on this in their
birding areas?
Later Mike
