This morning I decided to make my second trip to the Stanwood Sewage Ponds in a month, primarily because of recent reports of the shorebirds that have been moving through the area. The highlight of this stop was six STILT SANDPIPERS feeding in the small wetland area near the gated entrance. The shorebird numbers were not that fantastic but the variety of birds was great. I spent a couple of hours just enjoying the birds that were present, and by mid morning headed off to bird the Edmonds marsh and Fish Pier. Additional species seen on my trip included:

MERLIN - Stanwood STP

PEREGRINE FALCON - Stanwood STP

WILSON'S SNIPE - Stanwood STP

LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER - Stanwood STP

GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS - Stanwood STP

LEAST SANDPIPER - Edmonds Marsh

STILT SANDPIPER - (6) Stanwood STP

RED-NECKED PHALAROPE - Stanwood STP

COMMON MURRE - Edmonds Fishing Pier

RHINOCEROS AUKLET - Edmonds Fishing Pier

PIGEON GUILLEMOT - Edmonds Fishing Pier

PURPLE MARTIN - Edmonds Fishing Pier

SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER - (3) Stanwood STP

WESTERN SANDPIPER - Stanwood STP

Cheers and Good Birding
