Hi Carl,

Please let your?sister know that there are HUNDREDS, if not THOUSANDS, :0) of pelegic cormorants living, in the largest inland colony in Washington State,?under the north end of the Warren Avenue Bridge in Bremerton.? AND a peregrin falcon in a nest box under the south end of the same bridge!?

Best viewing is from under the south end.? The audubon soc. has kindly created an access route from very end of the street at the north end of Evergreen Park.? I THINK the name of the street is Elizabeth.? If you need better directions give me a call.

Also if you go north over the bridge and then?go east to Trenton Ave and follow it just a bit less than mile north along the water you will come to a tiny little beach access/park with a gazebo that stands out over the beach.? If you sit there you can observe the traffic on the "cormorant highway".? Very busy, and these birds fly inches over the water at very high speed, from their hunting grounds back and forth, to and from,?the colony under the bridge to feed their youg.? You might occationally see our local 2 pair of bald eagles (with fedged young at this time of the year) and/or our local pair of osprey.

Also, if watching away from the water keep an eye pealed for the very occational CA scrub jay! They have been seen in Evergreen park, the Manette area and other parts of E. Bremerton.

Enjoy, and welcome to our area.

My sister is visiting from Pensacola-she's a master birder or a rabid
birder, depending on your point of view!? She has four life birds she's
hunting down while in the Puget Sound area:?

Pelagic cormorant

Vaux's swift

Varied thrush

Pine grosbeak

Any advise on where we should look?
