Interesting point! From talking to some friends in Tucson, the
conditions aren't TOO bad there now -- the plants have received
enough monsoon activity to at least get started. Of course, the very
major negative of the hurricane is that it's headed for the Yucatan,
probably as a Category 5 -- and that can't be good news for that
area, already severely battered by the strong way in '05. It is
thought that that one dealt the final death blow to the Cozumel
Thrasher, and if this one hits the same area, others of the great
Cozumel endemics could be wiped out as well... Then there are all the
birds migrating now to worry about...
