On Friday, August 17 we had dozens of Barn swallows over the home we?re
building a few miles south of Port Townsend, including two pair that nested
in the eaves of the still-uncompleted house. On Saturday, August 18, there
was not a single Barn swallow to be seen, not even the newly-fledged
juveniles from the aforementioned nests. We were a little surprised that
the migration did not occur over a few days, but it was if the all departed
in one single movement.
