Subject: [Tweeters] swaying hummingbird behavior?

I was just hearing a tremendous racket from one of my resident anna's
hummingbirds in the front yard, and when I stepped out and finally spotted
him on a branch, he was doing an odd shimmying dance, swaying back and forth
and looking around for all the world like a teeny little Stevie Wonder --
about two shimmies per second.

I thought he might be sick or something, but a dog barked across the street
and he instantly stilled and focused on that, then relaxed and started the
swaying and head-rocking thing again.

What is this? Some sort of display? Trying to get better depth perception on
little bug prey? Or what? Any ideas?
