Thursday morning I encountered a mixed flock of migrants on the conservation
property just east of Tenino: Yellow Warbler (4?), Blk-th Gray Warbler (6?),
Wilson's Warbler (4+), Orange-cr Warbler (2), Warbling Vireo (1), Red-eyed
Vireo (1), Hutton's Vireo (2), both chickadees, possible tanager, Swainson's
Thrush, with waxwings, robins, towhees, Purple Finch, and both grosbeaks
present feeding on elderberry. Quite a show!I just returned from a vacation
that included some birding in Maine and CT. One spot in CT yielded 35
species together, mostly passerines attracted to berries. Wow! Good birding!
